Committee formed to probe rape and murder of three-year-old girl in Karachi

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Javed Alam Odho has constituted a high-level investigation committee to probe the alleged rape and murder of a three-year-old girl in Karachi’s Quaidabad area.
The move came after the horrific incident sparked outrage, with the provincial police chief taking strict notice and ordering a comprehensive and transparent investigation.
According to official orders, the committee will be headed by the DIG East and will include senior officials from key law enforcement and intelligence units, including the SSP SIU, SSP Malir, SSP Special Branch Intelligence, SP Investigation Malir, the relevant DSP, SIO and the investigating officer.
The committee has been tasked with examining all aspects of the alleged rape and murder and will submit daily progress reports to the IG Sindh.
In a statement, the police chief said those involved in the “heinous crime” did not deserve any leniency and directed officers to utilise all available resources to ensure the swift arrest of the culprits.
He further instructed authorities to take all possible legal measures to ensure the culprits are awarded the strictest punishment under the law.
The IG Sindh assured that providing justice to the victim’s family remains the top priority of Sindh Police.
