Pakistan's civil and military leadership renewed its support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir.

President Zardari said the day was observed to reaffirm Pakistan's unwavering solidarity with the Kashmiri people and to honour their resilience in pursuing their right to self-determination. He maintained that India's 2019 decision had not changed the internationally disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.

Moreover, he said Pakistan would continue raising the issue at international forums while urging the UN to support a peaceful resolution in line with relevant UNSC resolutions.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the measures introduced by India in August 2019 had neither altered the territory's legal status nor diminished the aspirations of Kashmiris.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to supporting Kashmiris and called for respect for international law and UNSC resolutions governing the dispute.

In a separate statement, the ISPR said the country's military leadership stood in unwavering solidarity with the people of IIOJK.
