The Bondi Beach shooting suspects were identified as a father and son. Manila’s immigration department confirmed that both spent nearly a month in the Philippines. It also stated that the father, Sajid Akram, entered the Philippines as an Indian national.
Sixteen people were killed, and around 40 were injured when two gunmen opened fire during a Jewish holiday gathering at Bondi Beach, Sydney.
Reports said that Sajid Akram, 50, an Indian national, and his son Naveed Akram, 24, an Australian national, arrived in the Philippines on November 1, 2025, and returned to Sydney on November 28.
Australian authorities are continuing to investigate the trip, while Philippine police have stated that they are cooperating with the inquiry.
According to the Australian president, the father and the son went to receive military-style training. Furthermore, information was released in which it came to light that Sajid Akram, age 50, was from India.
Police also reported that a vehicle registered to the younger suspect contained improvised explosive devices and two homemade flags linked to ISIS (Islamic State), a group designated as a terrorist organisation by Australia and many other countries.
