Atleast nine persons have been killed and 36 are injured due to the overturning of a passenger coach on the Makran Coastal Highway near Gwadar, Balochistan, police said on Saturday.

The accident took place in the vicinity of the Hudd Goth area in Ormara, where a Karachi-bound coach, which was traveling towards Jiwani, lost its control and turned upside down because of overspeeding, a police official from Coastal Highway police said. The coach is owned by the private transport company, "Al Usman".

SP Aslam Bangulzai said the cause of the accident was overspeeding and the driver had lost control of the vehicle.

Rescue teams were quickly deployed and shifted the dead and injured citizens to the Ormara Tehsil Hospital. Hospital authorities said that several injured were in critical condition.

Police said that more investigations were also being conducted, with reports about the driver and transport company also being compiled. In other developments, Balochistan’s Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti is quoted as having extended his condolences to the victim families.

The chief minister further instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Gwadar to make arrangements for the best possible medical aid to the injured. Ambulance services should be provided to take
