Indian media outlets on Friday peddled false claims alleging that the Afghan Taliban shot down a Pakistani fighter jet that entered Afghanistan's airspace last night.

To support the claim, several accounts shared images from an AI-generated video showing the burning wreckage of an aircraft, which they described as a Pakistani F-16 fighter jet downed by Afghan forces.

The footage displays a damaged plane bearing the serial number 85510 and a Pakistani flag painted near the vertical stabiliser. However, aviation observers note that the aircraft’s shape and dimensions do not match those of an F-16.

A query made on Grok, the AI chatbot available on X, also indicated that the wreckage shown in the video does not resemble an F-16 fighter jet.
