Thailand school shooting leaves at least seven dead, 15 injured

At least seven people were killed and 15 others injured after a student opened fire at Debsirin Nonthaburi School on the outskirts of Bangkok, Thailand. 

Authorities said the suspected gunman later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police said the victims included both teachers and students, while emergency responders rushed the injured to nearby hospitals. 

Witnesses described scenes of panic as students fled classrooms and teachers embraced one another outside the school while ambulances transported the wounded.

An 18-year-old student told Reuters he initially mistook the sound of gunfire for firecrackers before realizing a shooting was underway. 

Investigators later revealed that the teenage suspect had allegedly killed his grandparents at their home before carrying out the attack at the school. 

Authorities said the handgun used in the shooting belonged to the suspect's grandfather. The motive remains under investigation.
