Iran has denied carrying out a planned attack on the UAE’s Fujairah port instead blaming what it called “US military adventurism” in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, an unnamed Iranian military official said Tehran had “no pre-planned program” to target oil installations in Fujairah.
The official claimed the incident was caused by US military actions aimed at opening maritime routes through restricted waters in the Strait of Hormuz.
“The US military must be held accountable,” the official said, accusing Washington of using force during ongoing diplomatic tensions in the region.
Iranian media further urged the US to end destabilizing military actions in the sensitive Gulf energy corridor.
The comments came after UAE authorities reported that a fire broke out at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone following a drone strike originating from Iran.
Emirati authorities said civil defense teams were immediately deployed to contain the blaze, while at least three people were reported injured.
The UAE has condemned the attack as a “dangerous escalation,” while the US recently announced operations aimed at ensuring commercial shipping access through the waterway.
However, no independent confirmation has yet emerged regarding Iran’s claim that US military activity caused the fire.
