RAWALPINDI: An attempt to fraudulently withdraw Rs5.245 million from the Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) failed when alert bank employees identified the fraudulent document and informed the concerned authorities.
A woman, Qurratul Ain by name, has been booked by police and put into custody under judicial remand. As per the first information report (FIR), the accused came to the bank with the purpose of getting a demand draft issued in the name of the Rawalpindi education board and produced a letter purporting to authorize such action.
The bank officials pointed out an error in the amount written in the letter and requested her to get it corrected.
She came back after some minutes with a new letter, however, the bank employees found something fishy about the altered letter.
The bank called the concerned office of the Rawalpindi education board to verify the document and it was found to be forged.
