Shan, Imam lead Pakistan fightback after Mohammad Ali's four-for against West Indies

Pakistan recovered from an early setback to reach 199-3 at stumps on the second day of the first Test against the West Indies at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba on Sunday.

At the close, Shan Masood was unbeaten on 88 off 137 deliveries, including 11 fours, while Salman Ali Agha was yet to score. Pakistan will resume day three trailing the hosts by 112 runs.

The visitors lost opener Azan Awais for a nine-ball duck after Kemar Roach struck early, but Masood and Imam-ul-Haq rebuilt the innings with a 155-run partnership for the second wicket.

Both batters completed half-centuries, with Masood registering his 15th Test fifty and Imam bringing up his 11th. Imam was eventually dismissed for 63 off 102 balls, having struck seven boundaries.

Returning captain Babar Azam added 41 runs with Masood before Jayden Seales removed him for 23, leaving Pakistan on 197-3. Masood remained unbeaten to guide Pakistan safely to stumps.

Earlier, West Indies were bowled out for 311 in 98.5 overs after resuming their first innings, with Shai Hope top-scoring with 92 and Kevlon Hodge contributing 84. Shamar Joseph added a brisk 23, while Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Amir Jangoo scored 21 each.
