A case has been registered against a school principal and a teacher following the death of a ninth-grade student at a private school in Orangi Town, Karachi.

According to details, the case (No. 26/288) was lodged at Orangi Town Police Station by the victim’s father, Raja Mehdi Hassan, after his 15-year-old daughter, Kinza, died from injuries sustained after falling from the roof of a private school in Sector 13-C, Orangi Town.

Police stated that the case has been registered against the school principal and owner, Hafiz Arshad, and a chemistry teacher under charges of causing death by negligence.

In his initial statement, the father said that on 21 April, his son called to inform him that Kinza had been seriously injured after falling inside the school premises.

Upon reaching Qatar Hospital, a teacher told him that she had fallen from the stairs. Kinza had sustained severe injuries to both legs and her head.

He later shifted his daughter to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and subsequently to a private hospital, where she passed away during treatment on Monday.

According to the complainant, the school administration gave conflicting accounts, first stating that she fell from the stairs and later from the roof.

He alleged that the chemistry teacher showed negligence by allowing his daughter to leave the classroom, and claimed that the carelessness of both the school owner and the teacher led to her death.

Police reported that since the case was registered, both the school owner and the teacher have absconded, and raids are being conducted to arrest them.

The school administration has yet to provide CCTV footage, claiming that the cameras installed at the school were not functioning. Police added that further investigations are underway.
