The Power Division on Wednesday issued statement on the unannounced loadshedding in Pakistan.

Power Distribution Companies also admitted that they were resorting to unannounced loadshedding, and said that there was a likelihood of an increase in the discharge of water from dams, which would increase the power production.

The spokesman for the Power Division said that the Division apologized for excessive load management on Tuesday night due to drop in the power generation from hydel source.

He further said that during peak hours last night, the production of electricity from hydel source dropped by 1,991 megawatts, while the shortfall stood at 4,500 megawatts.

Demand, on the other hand, during peak hours last night reached 18,000 megawatts.

The spokesman claimed that it was only during nighttime that there was a issue of an electricity shortfall, while no such issue surfaced during the daytime.

He went on to say that the situation would also improve due to the supply of RLNG. The spokesman appealed to people to make a minimum use of electricity at night.
