CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION (CIE) on Wednesday said it was aware of the news concerning the leak of a question paper and was investigating the issue, with more information expected to be provided after the June 2026 examinations.

“Notably, we are aware of news about a reported leak of a question paper. We investigate such reports thoroughly,” the institution said in a statement.

“More information will be provided to the centres if necessary, during or after the conclusion of the timetabled examinations in the June 2026 series,” the statement added.

This statement came against the backdrop of reports indicating the alleged leak of the Advanced Subsidiary Mathematics Paper 1 in the June 2026 series, which was coded as Pure Mathematics 1 (9707). This was ahead of the actual examination slated to take place in the afternoon of Wednesday.

According to various online reports, the question paper was available on social media networks in both unworked and worked forms. The reports indicate that some claim that it emerged late Tuesday night, while others claim that it was accessible at least six hours before the examination began.

It was also reported that the paper had been posted on social media websites such as Reddit, and was eventually circulated via WhatsApp. Some of the students even reported that the paper had been available for purchase through an application before being made available online.

Students have also complained against the leak at a private examination center in Karachi, where the students refused to appear in the examination, claiming that they had accessed the paper on social media many hours prior to the exam.

The British Council officials who were present at the examination center had apparently documented the complaints made by the students in writing.

The A and O level examinations conducted by the Cambridge board are currently taking place in Pakistan as part of the May-June session. However, the recent leakage has attracted attention as the paper, fully solved, has been leaked; whereas last year, a few papers had been partially leaked.
