What condition has Trump set for visiting Pakistan for Iran talks?

US President Donald Trump is reportedly willing to visit Pakistan for talks with Iran, but only if a specific condition is fulfilled, according to senior journalist Hamid Mir.

Speaking on Geo News’ morning show, Mir revealed that Trump has expressed a desire to travel to Islamabad for negotiations with Tehran, provided that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also agrees to be present in Pakistan.

Mir said the development was conveyed through Chinese diplomatic sources, adding that multiple international stakeholders are already engaged in drafting a potential agreement between Washington and Tehran.

He further disclosed that backchannel discussions between the United States and Iran had been underway for some time, and that Pakistan was being considered as a venue for a second round of talks due to the sensitive nature of the negotiations.

According to Mir, there had been broad agreement on several points between the two sides, with the exception of certain regional issues, including matters related to Lebanon. He noted that Iran had shown limited flexibility on some fronts but remained firm on others.

The journalist also claimed that US Vice President JD Vance had briefed Trump on Iran’s reported willingness to show flexibility on issues such as uranium enrichment and strategic waterways, though these claims have not been independently verified.

Mir cautioned that despite apparent progress, the negotiations remain fragile and could face setbacks at any stage.
