Jinnah’s legacy celebrated at London art exhibition

Pakistan’s founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, was remembered at an art exhibition in London highlighting the enduring relevance of his political vision and principles.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Tipu Usman said Jinnah firmly believed in the rule of law, reasoned argument, dialogue and political negotiation, even when dealing with political opponents. 

The exhibition titled “Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah: A Legacy Beyond Time” was organized by the Mont Rose Foundation at the National Liberal Club in Whitehall.

The event brought together artist Amera Rashid, British-Pakistani community members, educationists, entrepreneurs and other dignitaries.

The High Commissioner said remembering Jinnah should go beyond commemorating the struggle that resulted in Pakistan’s creation and should include understanding the principles that guided his political journey.

British-Pakistani entrepreneur and educationist Bilal Sheikh, who organised the exhibition, paid tribute to Jinnah’s leadership, political struggle and vision.

Moreover, he highlighted the Quaid’s emphasis on education, equality before the law, economic advancement and opportunities for citizens.

The exhibition also builds on Sheikh’s earlier efforts to promote Jinnah’s historical links with Britain. In 2022, he commissioned a portrait of Jinnah that was unveiled at the National Liberal Club, where Jinnah had been a member in 1913. Pakistan’s government officially documented that ceremony and Jinnah’s association with the club.
