Court grants interim bail to Mir Raza’s business partner in abduction, murder case

A sessions court in Karachi has granted interim pre-arrest bail to Muhammad Ahmed, a business partner of slain businessman Mir Raza, in a case registered over Raza’s alleged abduction and murder.

The court approved Ahmed’s interim bail against a surety bond of Rs100,000 and directed police not to arrest him until further orders.

The court also directed the petitioner to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.

During the hearing, Ahmed’s lawyer argued that the petitioner was being repeatedly called by police and was being harassed. The lawyer said Ahmed was a childhood friend of Mir Raza and had been cooperating with the police investigation.

According to the counsel, Ahmed operated the business’s North Nazimabad branch, while Mir Raza ran the Bahadurabad branch.

The lawyer further argued that Ahmed feared he could be arrested and implicated in the case despite his cooperation with investigators.

The court granted the interim relief and restrained police from arresting Ahmed while directing him to assist the investigation.
