Candidate dies during physical running test for Islamabad police recruitment

A 24-year-old candidate died after collapsing during a running test for recruitment of cops for Islamabad police at the Police Lines recruitment centre.

According to media reports, Ishaq suddenly fell unconscious while taking part in the run. He was shifted by a Police Lines ambulance to the emergency department of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where doctors said he died before reaching the hospital.

The cause of death has not yet been officially disclosed.

Physical and running tests for recruitment to the Islamabad police continued on Wednesday at the F-9 and Police Lines test centres under the supervision of senior police officers.

According to an Islamabad police spokesperson, Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi directed senior officers to personally oversee the recruitment process. Security and administrative arrangements are also being closely monitored to ensure the tests are conducted in an organised and transparent manner.

DIG Headquarters Muhammad Ateeq Tahir and DIG Security Rana Umar Farooq visited the F-9 test centre to review the physical and running tests, as well as security and other administrative arrangements. They also issued instructions to the relevant officers to ensure all recruitment stages were completed in accordance with the prescribed procedures.
