Chief Operating Officer of Rescue, Dr. Abid Jalal, has rejected claims of delays in the rescue operations during the Gul Plaza tragedy.

In a statement, Dr. Abid Jalal clarified that the fire at Gul Plaza was classified as a third-degree incident, and the rescue response was timely with no delays.

He added that search operations are ongoing on the second and third floors of the plaza, and no deceased bodies have yet been recovered from the third floor.

Dr. Abid Jalal emphasised that Rescue 1122 is fully equipped and that search efforts are being carried out with due consideration for staff safety and the structural condition of the building.

He further stressed the importance of fire alarms in any building, as well as the necessity of proper fire exits and sprinkler systems.
