Arshad Nadeem falls short in Commonwealth Games Final

Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem finished ninth in the men's javelin throw final at the Commonwealth Games, missing out on a medal as Sri Lanka's Rumesh Tharanga claimed the gold medal.

The defending champion struggled to find his rhythm in the final. His opening attempt was ruled a foul, while his second and third throws measured 77.41 metres and 75.39 metres, respectively, leaving him ninth in the 12-athlete field.

Sri Lanka's Rumesh Tharanga secured the gold medal with a best throw of 89.75 metres.

India's Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal with a best effort of 85.83 metres, while fellow Indian Yash Vir Singh claimed the bronze.

Earlier, Arshad Nadeem had qualified for the final after recording a best throw of 78.63 metres in the qualifying round, finishing seventh overall.

He entered the final as the defending Commonwealth champion but was unable to retain his title.
