The government of Sindh has announced a major initiative in Sindh to digitize all route permits and vehicle fitness certificates by June 30, 2026.
Officials claim that this move is aimed at improving transparency, enforcement, and public convenience in the transport sector.
According to an official notification, all provincial, regional, and district transport authorities, along with motor vehicle inspection wings, have been instructed to shift completely to an automated system.
Furthermore, the notification stated that the reform will eliminate “systemic shortcomings” and limit corruption and forgery.
Moreover, it will also provide transporters with secure and verifiable digital documentation.
Authorities have been instructed to take measures to ensure complete digitization within their jurisdictions. They have also been instructed to guide transporters and vehicle owners to begin registration immediately.
Meanwhile, awareness banners are to be displayed for public highlighting the June 30 deadline, after which all manual permits and fitness certificates will become invalid.
Offices have been directed to process at least 1,000 entries daily and coordinate data integration among transport regulatory bodies.
It has been noted that vehicles operating with manual documents after the deadline would be considered non-compliant and could face legal action and penalties.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing transport governance through technology. He added that the online system would simplify verification procedures, improve transparency, and help reduce corruption in the sector.
