Jail authorities in Karachi have requested a court to allow alleged drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky's appearance in cases via video link from jail due to security reasons.

According to media reports, prison officials submitted a report before the court and sought permission for the suspect to appear via video link in 18 separate cases.

The report stated that presenting the alleged “cocaine queen” at City Courts poses a serious security risk. Authorities warned that any untoward incident during her court appearance could also endanger ordinary litigants and the public present at the premises.

Jail officials requested the court to permit the suspect’s appearance through video link from the Women Central Jail Karachi.

Earlier, a judicial magistrate had directed the women’s jail administration to produce the suspect before the court on May 25.

Police said the suspect is currently on judicial remand in 18 cases, including those related to murder, illegal weapons and narcotics. Cases against her have been registered at Garden, Baghdadi, Darakhshan, Defence, Gizri, Sachal and SIU Central police stations.
