A significant development has emerged in the case concerning the death of nine-year-old Australian citizen Hania Ahmed, who was allegedly killed by gunfire from Crime Control Department (CCD) personnel in Chakwal.

Police have now added Section 302 (murder) to the case against the officer nominated in the FIR.

According to police sources, the case was initially registered under Section 322 (manslaughter causing death by negligence). However, in light of evidence gathered during the investigation and the findings of forensic examinations, the charge has been upgraded to Section 302.

Sources further revealed that the rifle allegedly used in the shooting has been recovered from the possession of the nominated CCD officer, Shuja.

Following his appearance before the court, the accused was remanded into judicial custody and transferred to prison.

The incident occurred several days ago when a Pakistani family residing in Australia came under fire after being caught up in the aftermath of a robbery incident in Chakwal.

As a result, nine-year-old Hania Ahmed lost her life, while her father, Adil Ahmed, and brother, Affan, sustained serious injuries.

Initially, the incident was described as an accident that occurred during the pursuit of armed robbers.

However, subsequent reviews of CCTV footage and other evidence allegedly indicated the involvement of CCD personnel in the shooting. Consequently, a case was registered, naming one CCD officer as the accused.

Police stated that, given the sensitive nature of the case, the investigation was withdrawn from the City Police Station and handed over to the CCD. In addition, a Joint Investigation Team (JIT), headed by SP Investigation Sajid Gondal, continues to examine various aspects of the case.

Meanwhile, Australian media outlets have reported that the Australian Government has also taken notice of the death of its citizen, Hania Ahmed, and the injuries sustained by her family members.
