American actor Giancarlo Esposito, widely recognised for his role as Gus Fring in the TV series Breaking Bad, has embraced Islam during his stay in Saudi Arabia, according to General Entertainment Authority Chairman Turki Al-Sheikh.

Al-Sheikh said Esposito recited the Shahada, the Islamic declaration of faith, and joined members of a production team in prayer at a mosque while filming in the Kingdom.

The actor is known for a long career in film and television, including roles in Better Call Saul and The Mandalorian. His portrayal of Gus Fring earned him international recognition and multiple award nominations.

According to Al-Sheikh, Esposito’s decision followed his experiences in Saudi Arabia and interactions with Muslims during the filming process. He said the actor expressed appreciation for the hospitality and community he encountered while working in the country.

A video shared on social media appeared to show Esposito praying alongside members of the production team inside a mosque.
